Ethics and Communication for Correctional Medicine Physicians

The QICM Ethics and Communications Course is a 4-day small group (no more than 12 participants) course designed to help department of corrections physicians enhance their knowledge and skills in physician communications and ethical issues in their practice of medicine. This highly interactive session covers the major topics of (Printable Agenda):
  • Clinician Patient Communication
  • Understanding and Integrating Personal and Professional Communication

Course Description and Objectives:

  • To provide a basic education in ethics and communication to correctional physicians and administrators.
  • To improve the quality of care delivered in correctional facilities.
  • To provide a basis for ongoing education in the correctional facilities.
  • To understand the ethical and legal issues involved with medical practice in correctional systems.

Needs Assessment

 

This course is designed to address ethics and communication issues specific to prisoners in correctional systems.

 


Target Audience


The Ethics and Communication course sponsored by the UCSD PACE/QICM program is being offered to all physicians and administrators working for correctional systems.
